DEVELOPMENT OF AN ACOUSTIC EXPERT REPORT
In case of noise problems with the neighborhood or activities, the first option should always be negotiation. If it is not possible to reach an agreement with the other party, acoustic expert tests should be carried out to determine the extent of the problem and possible solutions.
For this purpose, the corresponding measurements must be taken and the evidence must be presented and defended in court. The most frequent case typologies are:
NOISE IMMISSION
The expert is demanded before the noise immission by a neighbor or an activity: premises, activities or neighborhood that emit excessive noise. In case the negotiation with the other party fails, it should be raised:
- Noise immission level measurement.
- In case it is excessive, new negotiation.
- Judicial demand, if applicable, based on measured levels.
The maximum permissible immission levels may vary between municipalities and autonomous communities, the most usual being a maximum of 25dBa in a room at night and 30dBa in other rooms.
ACOUSTIC STUDY
In this case, we are hired by the owner of some activity with the intention of:
- Check the effectiveness of any isolation measures
- Find insulation solutions for a particular problem
- Regulating and adjusting the noise emission level
- Defending against unfounded accusations: it may also happen that the noise complaints filed are unfounded or attributable to another activity.
CERTIFICATION OF WORKS
The acoustic conditions required of a house have become more demanding with the publication of the new technical building code.
Such requirements must be met in all areas and an insulation measure may be necessary to certify this:
- Insulation between dwellings
- Soundproofing of noise emitting elements: parking lots, machinery, elevator room, smoke vents, equipment, etc.
- Insulation between the dwelling and the exterior: traffic noise, meteorological elements and other sources of exterior noise.
